Lee Byung Heon on a concert tour

Looks like Lee Da Hae isn’t the only one giving the singing career a go. So is actor Lee Byung Heon, who’s embarking on a concert tour in Japan, which hits major cities Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, and Fukuoka, beginning on the 15th and ending on the 28th.

This is no mere song or two performed at a fanmeeting, but a full-scale arena tour, in which Lee Byung Heon will be singing songs from a variety of genres. He was too busy with his filming schedule to prepare any originally written works (he songwrites?), but has readied a bunch of hit-song remakes from various Japanese songwriters. Helping him is veteran balladeer Shin Seung Hoon.

Apparently the idea developed out of the fanmeeting he held last year at Tokyo Dome, when he sung a song or two to positive response (ha, like his FANS at a FANmeeting would respond with anything less). And so, he’s been preparing for the past six months for this seven-date concert tour. As to the matter of his singing skills, his management reminds us that Lee Byeon Heon did put out an album in 1999 and had a few tracks in drama soundtracks.

Personally, I think actors should stick to acting unless their singing talents are exceptional. Not just at a tolerable level, but really outstanding. Cuz otherwise it’s just a vanity move — and the world doesn’t need any more mediocre singers thinking they’re better because their fans (earned through a different skill) spill over to show their support. (Conversely, I wish singers with middling acting abilities would give their acting aspirations a rest, too.)

SONG OF THE DAY

The Cat House – “Club Rio.” I wonder, does the band actually KNOW what a cathouse is? Did they choose their name knowing the connotation? Actually, it’s not so much connotation as actual denotation.

I agree that actors should stick to acting. There are so many of them who are trying to do both. First of all, when do they have the time to do both? And look fabulous at the same time! Maybe they are trying to prove that there is much more to them than their pretty faces and good (mediocre?) acting.

Then again, who doesn't dream of being a rock star?

I am going to stare at Lee Byung Heon's photo for another hour or so before I absolutely must run out of the house.

*sigh*

Hi javabeans, what a nice surprise seeing LBH featured here. Love your sharing and insightful drama commentaries, btw.

But LBH isn't switching careers, merely just entertaining his fans at the "concerts".. what else can an actor do at a 2-hr session fan meets anyways. ^^
Hope it turns better than initially thought and hyped by the media.

Thanks for the gist especially, often times we wonder what the articles are really saying.

Like bunn says, who doesn't dream of being a rock star? I guess I can't fault them for that, but it's too bad that their fame and fortune allows lots of actors to indulge in vanity projects. It's like the equivalent of socialites "designing" handbags or starlets with perfume lines. Sigh. Well, at least LBH's concert tour will be to a loving captive audience. Maybe he's earned it.

-Ditto and I definitely agree! But one singer turned actorish that is really good for me is Kim Dong Wan and Lee Seung Gi... They are really good actors I find.
I think the best though is to stick to ur true craft, not unless ur able to master both. Know your strengths, though sure people can try to develop their skills.
Hehehhe its not bad to dream right? It's a plus ur in showbiz already lol!

seriously, this man can stand there and sing off key all day long and i'll still love it but that's because he's sexy hot and i'm a big fan of his acting so i'm bias. lol. honestly, his singing is not bad and much better than other actors out there, i.e. lee da hae. plus, his english is much better than hers. and this whole concert thing is just a big thank you to his fans in japan who will pay top $$ to see him and hear him sing...plus it's easy money for him so why the heck not.

*saying thank you to his fans * .there always alternative of a camp or gathering . i use to remember he said one of his wish is for his fans of all nationality to gather in one place and just have a picnic .

and past fan meeting .use to be fans singing and doing things for him .probably he will sing a tune or two and that was already memorable . just recently i was even talking to a korean fan ..and we were chatting of the past when his first foregin fan meeting how his foregin fans learnt a korean song to sing it to him ....times have change i suppose .. ..

he is sincere in wanting it to be his thank you to his japanese fans .but i cant help thinking .is it because the maket demand is different now ..acting is not enough anymore . .anyway .i will prefer more to hear about his movie project plan .then .more concert tour .
